Last March, a charming new coffee shop and deli opened its doors in the repurposed Front Office of Club Balai Isabel. Housed in the iconic glass-walled hexagonal building, Red Egg Deli is a bright and inviting space, filled with books, board games, and an art cart that beckons guests to linger and create.
A Unique Atmosphere
From the outside, the building resembles a giant glass lamp, while inside, shaded by trees and bathed in natural light, it feels like a cozy treehouse. It's the perfect spot to relax with a cup of coffee and a good book, or to engage in a friendly board game with fellow guests.
Inside is a chalk mural from resident artist Rabin Canuzo featuring the tagak (local egret) and tawilis (freshwater sardines), both of which are found in Taal Lake's protected landscape. On the staircase is a chalk mural of fruits and flowers by local student Chloe Panghulan.
Delicious Food and Drinks
Red Egg Deli offers a variety of espresso drinks made with beans from Sibs Coffee Roasters, as well as the traditional Filipino "nilagang kape" brewed with kapeng barako. Their signature drink, the Iced Spanish Barako, is a refreshing blend of Spanish latte and kapeng barako, perfect for those hot summer days.
They specialize in all-day breakfast, ready-to-eat meals, pasta salads, and merienda favorites like champorado and ginataang totong. Don't miss their delicious beef tapa, or their signature Red Egg pasta that features Connie's Kitchen's sun-dried tomato pesto sauce.
Visitors can also buy a variety of local products from the deli shop, such as suka from Solomon Farms, pasta sauces and bottled gourmet fish from Connie's Kitchen, moringa and turmeric supplements and soap from Sagip Taal Lake, and personal care products by Tinda ni Sabel.
A Community Space
Red Egg Deli is more than just a café; it's a vibrant community space where guests can connect, play, and express their creativity. The café features a collection of books from Isabel's personal library (not for sale, but for guests to enjoy), and a variety of board games that can be used in the café.
The space has already hosted a variety of events, including bingo nights, art activities for Mother's Day and Father's Day, Easter egg painting, and will be host to similar activities in the future. Red Egg Deli also serves as the souvenir shop for Club Balai Isabel, offering postcards, keychains, shirts, and more.
A Catalyst for Creativity
Red Egg Deli aims to be a catalyst for community building and creative expression at Club Balai Isabel. It strives to create a space where guests feel inspired, connected, and empowered to explore their own creative potential.
Red Egg Deli believes that by fostering a sense of belonging and providing opportunities for learning and collaboration, it can contribute to the overall well-being and vibrancy of the resort community.
